Camiguin diving: House Reef, Mantigue, courses

Camiguin’s diving is low-key compared with its White Island sandbar: a shore dive a short swim from the beach, a boat trip out to Mantigue Island’s marine sanctuary, and the full range of PADI-style courses from a first try to Divemaster.

| Dive | What’s included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| House Reef, 1 dive | Shore dive, about 20m from the beach | ₱1,390 |
| Mantigue Island, 2 dives | Boat trip, free equipment, coffee/snacks | ₱3,690 |
Sanctuary fees are not included in either price. Mantigue Island’s own entrance and marine sanctuary fees are charged separately on top of the dive price, see the Mantigue Island section of White Island, the hot and cold springs, and Katibawasan Falls for those fees. They are quoted for a snorkelling day trip, so ask your dive shop whether the same rate applies to a dive boat.

Checking a second shop’s prices
Dive shops on Camiguin don’t all price the same way. Scuba de Oro sells its local reef dives as a 2-dive package rather than a single dive: ₱3,900 per diver for 2 dives (₱4,800 for 3), including boat, crew, guide, tanks and weights, with lunch added if there are two or more divers. Its own Mantigue Island package is ₱4,600 per diver for 2 dives (₱6,400 for 3), same inclusions. Equipment rental and government fees are separate at this shop too.
These aren’t directly comparable to the single-dive House Reef price above, since Scuba de Oro doesn’t sell a one-off local dive the same way, but the per-dive cost works out higher than Camiguin Souldivers’ figures. Get a quote from more than one shop before booking.

Basing yourself for diving
Mambajao sits closest to most dive shops and the airport. Catarman, on the quiet west side, is the calmer base. Where to stay in Camiguin compares the areas and lists the places to stay.

A session with me is the fastest way to ask how a Camiguin diving day fits into a wider Mindanao or Visayas route. I’m also planning a small-group trip to Camiguin; the waitlist is free.
Questions people ask
How much does a fun dive cost in Camiguin?
A single House Reef dive costs ₱1,390 at Camiguin Souldivers in Mambajao. Its 2-dive package out to Mantigue Island costs ₱3,690, which includes gear and coffee or snacks but not Mantigue's own sanctuary entrance fees.
Do I need to pay extra fees to dive at Mantigue Island?
Yes. The dive package price does not include Mantigue's island entrance or marine sanctuary fees, which run separately, see the Mantigue Island section of White Island, the hot and cold springs, and Katibawasan Falls for those fees.
Can I learn to dive on Camiguin if I've never dived before?
Yes. A one-off Introduction to Scuba Diving session (open to ages 12 and up) costs ₱1,990 at Camiguin Souldivers, a single supervised dive rather than a certification.
How much does Open Water certification cost in Camiguin?
₱21,990 at Camiguin Souldivers, for a course to 18 metres. A shorter Scuba Diver certification (to 12 metres) costs ₱14,990. Both exclude equipment hire, course materials and the certification card fee.
What's the House Reef at Camiguin like?
It's a shore dive about 20 metres from the beach at the shop that runs it, which makes it the cheapest and least logistically demanding dive on the island, no boat needed.
Do prices differ much between Camiguin dive shops?
Yes, enough that it's worth checking more than one. Scuba de Oro sells its local reef dives as a 2-dive package at ₱3,900 per diver (₱4,800 for 3 dives), rather than pricing a single House Reef dive on its own, and its own Mantigue Island 2-dive package is ₱4,600 per diver. That's a different structure and a higher per-dive price than the single-dive House Reef and Mantigue figures quoted above from Camiguin Souldivers.
