Who you are dealing with

This website is run by Robert Otte, who publishes as Robert Tramp, based in the Philippines. Contact: management@robertotte.com.

No travel is sold on this website

• This website never takes payment for a trip. There is no checkout for a trip, no deposit, and no bank or e-wallet details to send money to.
• A waitlist is not a booking. It is free, it gives you no claim to a place or a price, and it commits you to nothing.
• When a trip runs, you book it with a registered tour operator, pay that operator directly, and your contract is with them, under their terms and insurance.
• Nobody will ever ask you to send money for a trip to a personal account. If anyone does, in my name or anyone else's, it is not me. Do not pay, and tell me atmanagement@robertotte.com.

What the guides are worth

The guides are what I have seen and checked, written down as honestly as I can. They are not professional advice. Boat schedules, prices, roads, permits and safety can change by the time you read them, so check anything that matters with a local source before you rely on it.

I am not responsible for what a hotel, boat operator, guide, airline or anyone else does. Writing about them or linking to them is my opinion, not a guarantee. Nothing here is advice about safety, health, visas, insurance or money; for those, use an official source for your own country.

Some links earn me a commission at no extra cost to you; see theaffiliate disclosure. I do not control other websites and am not responsible for what is on them.

The writing and the photos

The text and photographs on this site are mine, unless a credit says otherwise. Please do not republish them in full. Quoting a paragraph with a link back is welcome.

Booking a paid call

These terms apply when you book and pay for a one-to-one call with me.

What you are buying

My time on a video call about your own trip, for the length and price shown before you book. You pick a time in the Cal.com calendar and pay in full when you book. There is no written plan afterwards; the call is the conversation, so bring something to take notes with.

What you are not buying

• Not a booking service. I do not book anything for you, hold money for you, or act as a travel agent. You book your own flights, boats and rooms, with the companies you choose.
• Not a guarantee. I tell you what I know and what I would do. Whether a trip works out also depends on weather, boats, your choices and luck.
• Not professional advice about visas, insurance, health or money. I will tell you where to look.
• No paid recommendations. Nobody pays me to recommend anything on the call. If you later book through a marked affiliate link on this site, I may earn a commission, as theaffiliate disclosure explains. It does not change what I tell you.

Price and payment

The price is shown in US dollars before you book, including any tax that applies. Payment is taken by Stripe; your card details go to them and I never see them. Your booking is confirmed when the payment is, and you receive a calendar invite by email with how to join.

Moving or cancelling

• More than 24 hours before the call: move or cancel it yourself, as often as you need. A cancellation is refunded in full, no reason needed.
• Less than 24 hours before the call: I have kept the time free for you, so a cancellation is not refunded. You can still move the call once, to any time within 60 days, by emailing me.
• If you do not show up: I wait 15 minutes and then email you. The call counts as delivered and is not refunded.
• If I cancel or do not show up: you choose between a full refund and another time.
• If the technology fails on either side and the call cannot go ahead, we pick a new time at no cost.

If you live in the EU or the EEA: your 14-day right

On top of the rules above, European law gives you 14 days after booking to change your mind about something you bought online, without giving a reason. Before the call has taken place, that right wins over the 24-hour rule: if you are within 14 days of booking and we have not had the call yet, you can cancel for a full refund, even less than 24 hours before.

To withdraw, email management@robertotte.com with your name, the date you booked and the time of the call, and say that you are withdrawing. I refund you within 14 days, to the card you paid with.

If you are not happy

Email me at management@robertotte.com, say what went wrong and what you would like. I would much rather sort it out with you directly.

Which law applies

Philippine law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away the protection you have under the law of the country you live in, and you keep the right to bring a case there.

Changes

I can change these terms. A booking is governed by the version that applied when you booked. If a change matters, I will say so at the top of the page.
