Siquijor is small enough to circle by scooter in a day, and most of what draws visitors sits along or just off the coast road: a tiered waterfall, two well-known beaches, and the island’s long-standing reputation for traditional healers.

Paliton and Salagdoong: the two headline beaches

Paliton, on the west coast, is widely rated the island’s best beach for white sand and sunset views. Salagdoong, on the east coast, is known for cliff jumping and snorkelling over a reef close to shore.

A traditional healer visit

Siquijor has a long-standing reputation for bolo-bolo healers and folk mysticism, most associated with San Antonio on the island’s north side. Some healers work the tourist circuit, easy to find through a driver or accommodation and used to visitors; others work from home for local patients and are reached only through word of mouth, and may decline a tourist visit. A session (hilot massage, a bolo-bolo reading, or a herbal or prayer-based treatment) typically runs ₱200-1,000 as a donation, fixed or by suggestion depending on the healer, and takes 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Dress modestly, bring small cash, and ask before photographing. A healer visit is a cultural practice some visitors take seriously and others treat as a curiosity, either way it is arranged with a driver, your accommodation, or a tour operator rather than something to show up for unannounced.

Getting between the stops

Most visitors rent a scooter, commonly ₱250-400 a day, and circle the coast road themselves at their own pace. A full-day van or tricycle tour with a driver covers the same main stops without needing to navigate, and can usually include the healer visit.

A session with me is the fastest way to ask how a Siquijor day fits into a wider Visayas trip, see also a 3-day Siquijor itinerary.
