The Cave Connection, a spelunking route linking Lumiang and Sumaguing caves, is Sagada’s best-known activity, registered through the town’s own tourist office rather than booked online.

Just Sumaguing, no Lumiang crossing
Sumaguing alone, without the Lumiang connection, is a shorter and separate booking: a guide fee of around ₱800 per group of up to 4 guests, plus a shuttle fee of around ₱400 if you need transport to the trailhead rather than walking. Registration still goes through the same Municipal Tourist Information Center.

What to bring
A headlamp or flashlight is required. Beyond that: quick-dry clothing, closed shoes with a good grip, a full change of dry clothes and socks, a waterproof pouch for your phone and valuables, a reusable water bottle and some energy snacks. The route is rated around 8/10 for difficulty, with real crawling, climbing and wading, not a casual cave walk.

Children, and whether it can get cancelled
There’s no fixed official minimum age for the Cave Connection. Whether a child is ready depends on their age, size and confidence, the weather on the day, and the guide’s own call once they see the group. Very young children shouldn’t be assumed suitable for the crawling and wading the route involves.
The route can also close on short notice. Sagada’s tourism office can suspend cave tours when weather, water levels or safety conditions change, since underground water can rise quickly after rain falling anywhere in the surrounding catchment, even when things look calm at the cave entrance. Build a spare day into a Sagada stop rather than scheduling the Cave Connection for a single fixed slot.

Basing yourself for this
Staying near Sagada’s town centre, close to the tourist office where guides are arranged, saves the most time on an early start. See where to stay in Sagada for how that compares with the quieter edge of town, or Sagada in 3 days for how this fits into a longer stay.

Yes. What are the registration hours for Sagada's caves?
Tours run daily from 8am to 4pm at the tourist office, though an early morning start is the safer choice for a full Cave Connection.

There's no fixed official minimum age, it comes down to the child and the guide's call on the day. See Children, and whether it can get cancelled above for what that depends on.
Can the Cave Connection close or get cancelled on the day?
Yes, on short notice when weather or water levels make it unsafe. See Children, and whether it can get cancelled above for why, and don't lock the Cave Connection into a tight one-day itinerary.
