Times are from how to get to Sagada from Manila and the Sagada Cave Connection.

Day 1: arrive and rest

A direct overnight bus from Manila takes 9-12 hours, full operator and fare breakdown in how to get to Sagada from Manila. Most visitors arrive tired, so a short walk around town and registering at the tourist office for the next day’s Cave Connection is a realistic amount to do on arrival day.

Day 2: the Cave Connection

Sagada’s best-known activity, a 3-4 hour spelunking route linking Lumiang and Sumaguing caves, registered in person at the Municipal Tourist Information Center. Full fees and what to bring in the Sagada Cave Connection.

Day 3: hanging coffins and a sunrise viewpoint

The hanging coffins, centuries-old burial sites suspended on a limestone cliff near Echo Valley, are reached on a shorter guided walk than the Cave Connection, registered separately at the same Municipal Tourist Information Center. The guide fee is ₱300, covering 1 to 10 people, on top of the standard ₱50 tourism registration and a ₱10 entrance fee per person paid at the same counter, all well below the Cave Connection’s own guide fee.

An early sunrise viewpoint, weather permitting, fits before this if you’re up for the early start: Kiltepan, roughly a 40-minute walk or a short van ride from town. Kiltepan itself has no entrance fee, only a van fee of roughly ₱450-500 for the round trip if you’d rather not walk or arrange your own ride, which the tourism office books. Otherwise this day can also be used to rest before a long bus ride back.

Questions people ask

Is 3 days enough for Sagada?

Yes, enough to recover from the overnight bus, do the Cave Connection, and see the hanging coffins and a sunrise viewpoint, without rushing straight back onto a bus the next morning.

What shouldn't I skip in 3 days in Sagada?

The Cave Connection, Sagada's best-known activity, see the Sagada Cave Connection guide for fees, registration and what to bring.

Where should I base myself for this itinerary?

The town centre, close to the tourist office where guides are arranged, see where to stay in Sagada for how that compares with the edge of the valley.

How do I get to Sagada to start this itinerary?

A direct overnight bus from Manila, 9-12 hours, or via Baguio for a slower route, see how to get to Sagada from Manila for operators and fares.

Do I need to book the Cave Connection in advance?

No, registration is in person only at the tourist office, no online booking exists, see the Cave Connection guide for hours and fees.

What should I do on the day I arrive after the overnight bus?

Keep it light. A 9-12 hour overnight ride leaves most visitors tired, so a short walk and an early night works better than starting the Cave Connection the same day.
