How to Get to Siargao: Flights and Ferries

You get to Siargao by flying into Sayak Airport from Cebu, Clark or Davao, since there is no direct flight from Manila any more, or by ferry from Surigao City to Dapa, about 1.5 to 2.5 hours with three or more sailings a day (last checked 11 October 2026). I keep going back to Siargao, and every time the getting-there part looks slightly different from the time before. Here is how it works right now.

Flying in

There is currently no direct flight from Manila to Siargao’s Sayak Airport (IAO). Cebu Pacific ran that route until it moved to Clark in March 2025, and Philippine Airlines dropped its Clark-Siargao service in May 2026 while cutting several routes over rising fuel costs. That leaves two practical ways in from Manila:

  • Fly via Cebu. Cebu-Siargao is the route with the most capacity: Cebgo, PAL Express and Sunlight Air all fly it, multiple times a day.
  • Fly via Clark. Cebgo and Sunlight Air still connect Clark to Siargao, though PAL no longer does.

Davao-Siargao also exists, roughly once a day with Cebgo, if that fits your route better.

Route What runs it Frequency
Cebu → Siargao Cebgo, PAL Express, Sunlight Air Several times daily
Clark → Siargao Cebgo, Sunlight Air Daily
Davao → Siargao Cebgo About once daily

Last checked 11 October 2026, against the airlines’ own booking pages and independent aviation-news coverage of the 2025–2026 route changes. Airline schedules change, recheck before you book, especially since this route has already moved twice.

Fares move by the day and by how far ahead you book, so check the live fare when you book.

Taking the ferry instead

If you are already in Mindanao, or just prefer to travel by sea, the crossing from Surigao City to Dapa is the way in. Evaristo & Sons has run it for years, alongside Montenegro Lines and a few smaller operators, with at least three sailings a day in each direction on a normal week.

The ferry company’s own site asks travellers to confirm the boat is running before they show up, because schedules change often and without much notice. Check the departure time on the day or the day before, through Barkota or the operator directly.

Where you end up

Dapa port is on the south side of the island; most visitors head straight on to General Luna, about 40–45 minutes further by habal-habal or van. If you have not picked a base yet, I wrote a separate guide on where to stay in Siargao, General Luna, Cloud 9 or somewhere quieter, the best hostels in Siargao for a dorm bed, and a 5-day Siargao itinerary for how the days split once you’re in.

Questions people ask

How do I get to Siargao from Manila?

There is no direct flight from Manila to Siargao. Cebu Pacific moved that route to Clark in March 2025, and Philippine Airlines dropped its Clark-Siargao route in May 2026. The practical way in is to fly Manila-Cebu and then take one of the daily Cebu-Siargao flights, or fly into Clark and connect from there. Check the current schedule directly with the airline before you book, since this leg has changed twice in the past two years.

Can I take a ferry to Siargao instead of flying?

Yes. Evaristo & Sons and a few other operators run the Surigao-Dapa crossing several times a day, roughly 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the boat. Exact departure times shift and the route is known for last-minute cancellations, so confirm the current timetable with the ferry company or through Barkota shortly before you travel rather than planning around a fixed time.

Do I need to book the ferry or flight in advance?

I would book the flight ahead. For the ferry, plenty of travellers just turn up, but with schedules changing as often as they have, I would not risk that on a tight connection. Both can be booked ahead through the airline's own site or through Barkota for the ferry.

What's the cheapest way to get to Siargao?

Flight and ferry fares move by the day and by how far ahead you book. Check live fares on the airline's site or a ferry booking platform close to your travel date.
