Boracay paraw sunset sailing: what it costs and how it works

A paraw is a traditional double-outrigger sailboat, and a short sail on one, timed to Boracay’s sunset, is one of the few activities here that isn’t a motorboat tour with snorkel gear.

What it costs, by group size

Guests Price per boat
1 ₱3,700
2 ₱4,000
3 ₱4,200
4 ₱4,700
5 ₱5,200
6 ₱5,700
7 ₱6,200
8 ₱6,700

Pricing continues to rise by roughly ₱500 per extra guest up to a 10-person maximum. It’s a per-boat price, not per person, so a bigger group pays less each.

Sunset ride or daytime sail

  • Sunset ride: 30 minutes, departing around 5:00-5:30pm to catch the golden hour. First come, first served, so the specific slot isn’t guaranteed even if the booking is.
  • Daytime sail: 1 hour, available roughly 9am to 3:30pm.

Both include hotel pickup from Stations 1, 2 or 3 and life jackets for everyone aboard. Total hotel-to-hotel time for the sunset option runs around 1.5 to 2 hours once pickup and drop-off are counted.

Best time of year, and what happens if the weather turns

The dry, Amihan season, roughly November to April, gives the steadiest wind and calmest water, the conditions a paraw actually needs to sail well. The wet season, roughly June to October, is less predictable, and a booking in that window carries a higher chance of the ride being shortened, rerouted or cancelled for the day.

A cancellation isn’t automatic just because it’s raining, operators call it off specifically for unsafe sea conditions or a severe-weather advisory, and the usual outcome is a reschedule or a full refund rather than a lost booking. Tips for the crew aren’t built into the quoted price; they are optional and at your discretion, the same as tipping a guide elsewhere in the Philippines.

Fitting this into a trip

The short sunset ride slots naturally onto the end of a day that already covered island hopping, Puka Beach or Ariel’s Point, since those tours typically wrap up well before 5pm. See Boracay in 3 days for a suggested split, or pick your station first in where to stay in Boracay, most operators will collect from any of them.

Questions people ask

How much does paraw sailing cost in Boracay?

The price is per boat, not per person: ₱3,700 for 1 guest, ₱4,000 for 2, ₱4,200 for 3, ₱4,700 for 4, rising by about ₱500 per extra guest up to 10. A larger group works out cheaper per person.

How long does a paraw sunset sail last?

The sunset ride itself is 30 minutes, timed to catch Boracay's golden hour, departing around 5:00-5:30pm. A separate 1-hour daytime sail is also offered, available roughly 9am to 3:30pm.

Is hotel pickup included in paraw sailing?

Yes, pickup from Stations 1, 2 or 3 is included, with total hotel-to-hotel time around 1.5 to 2 hours for the shorter sunset option.

Is the sunset sail guaranteed?

No. Sunset time slots are first come, first served, so a provider cannot guarantee you get the sunset slot itself, only the ride.

How many people fit on a paraw?

Group pricing runs up to 10 passengers per boat; for a bigger group, contact the operator directly to arrange more than one boat.

What's a paraw, exactly?

A traditional double-outrigger sailboat. Unlike most Boracay activities, it is a sail rather than a motorboat tour.

Can I combine paraw sailing with island hopping or Ariel's Point in one day?

The 30-minute sunset sail is short enough to add onto the end of a day that already includes Ariel's Point or island hopping, since those tours typically wrap up well before 5pm. See a suggested 3-day split in Boracay in 3 days.

Does bad weather cancel a paraw sail?

It can. Operators call it off for unsafe sea conditions or a severe-weather advisory, and typically offer a reschedule or a full refund when they do. See Best time of year, and what happens if the weather turns above for the seasonal odds and sourcing.

Is tipping the crew expected on a paraw sail?

Tips aren't included in the quoted price. Treat it the same as tipping a tour guide elsewhere in the Philippines: optional, appreciated, and at your discretion based on the service.
