Times are from how to get to Camiguin and White Island, the hot and cold springs, and Katibawasan Falls; drive times in the table above.
Day 1: ferry or flight in, settle in
Cross by ferry from Balingoan on mainland Mindanao to Benoni on Camiguin, or fly in on the island’s own small, seasonal air link, check which is actually operating before you lock in dates. Mambajao, the capital, is the easiest base: most places to stay, most restaurants and the closest town to the airport, full comparison against Mahinog (at the ferry port) and Catarman (near the cold spring) in where to stay in Camiguin. Arriving by early afternoon leaves time to settle in and arrange transport for the next day.
Day 2: White Island, Katibawasan Falls and Ardent Hot Spring
Take the morning boat to White Island from the terminal at Yumbing, then Katibawasan Falls, a tall waterfall with a cold pool at the base. Finish at Ardent Hot Spring, volcanic-heated pools that are popular in the evening. Full costs, booking notes and Robert’s own clip from White Island, which he calls “real life Moana,” are in White Island, the hot and cold springs, and Katibawasan Falls.
Day 3: the Catarman loop
Six sights on the west side around Catarman fit one scooter loop, in the order of the table above, from the Walkway to the Old Volcano and the Sunken Cemetery (snorkelled from the shore with a guide) to Sto. Niño Cold Spring. What each stop is and what it costs, including snorkel rental at the Sunken Cemetery, is on things to do in Camiguin.
An extra day: diving, Mantigue Island or Hibok-Hibok
With a fourth day, dive Camiguin’s House Reef or take a 2-dive boat trip to Mantigue Island, see diving in Camiguin for current prices and what’s included. Mantigue Island also works as a snorkelling day trip. The other full-day option is a guided climb of Mount Hibok-Hibok, which needs a licensed guide and a permit, see things to do in Camiguin. With only three days, swap one of these in for Day 3 and skip the Catarman stops furthest out.

Before you book
This split assumes a scooter or habal-habal to get between sights, add a day if you’d rather take it slower with a driver. For a day that doesn’t need a boat, see things to do in Camiguin beyond White Island and the springs, and for what three days like this add up to, Camiguin: best time to go and what a trip costs. A session with me is the fastest way to ask how to extend this or fit it around a wider Mindanao or Visayas trip. I’m also planning a small-group trip to Camiguin; the waitlist is free.
Questions people ask
Is 3 days enough for Camiguin?
Yes, at an easy pace: one day for White Island and the Mambajao side, one for the Catarman loop. Diving or a Hibok-Hibok climb needs a fourth day.
What's the one day I shouldn't skip on Camiguin?
The White Island day, see Day 2 above: the sandbar by boat in the morning, Katibawasan Falls, and Ardent Hot Spring in the evening, all a short ride from Mambajao.
Do I need to dive to enjoy Camiguin?
No. Mantigue Island also works as a snorkelling trip, and the Sunken Cemetery on Day 3 is snorkelled from the shore.
How do I get to Camiguin?
By ferry from Balingoan on mainland Mindanao to Benoni on Camiguin, about 1 to 1.5 hours, or by the island's own small airport when flights are running. Check which is operating before you lock in dates, see how to get to Camiguin for the ferry timetable and fares.
Should I base myself in one town for all 3 days?
Mambajao works for all three days. It's the most central town, close to the airport and a reasonable base for day trips to every corner of the island, see the comparison in where to stay in Camiguin.
Can I combine Camiguin with a wider Mindanao trip?
Yes, the Balingoan ferry connects to mainland Mindanao, so Camiguin slots in as a side trip rather than a standalone destination for a lot of itineraries. A planning call is the fastest way to ask how to route it.
