By air to El Nido: from Clark, not Manila
Lio Airport, usually just called El Nido Airport, only takes turboprop aircraft, and since 29 March 2026 those flights no longer use Manila’s NAIA. Cebu Pacific’s group moved its Manila to El Nido service to Clark International Airport, about 80km north of Manila, so the flight is now Clark to El Nido, about 1 hour 35 minutes. Cebgo, Cebu Pacific’s regional arm, has flown it since taking over AirSWIFT on 1 July 2026; older articles that mention AirSWIFT or direct Manila flights describe the route before these changes. Seats are limited, fares are the highest of any route into Palawan, and flights sell out first in peak season (roughly December to April). From the airport it’s a short 15 to 20 minute ride into El Nido town.
To reach Clark from Manila, Genesis Transport runs a bus from NAIA Terminal 3 (across Arrival Bay 13, also stopping at Terminal 2) to Clark Airport roughly every hour, about 2.5 to 3 hours for ₱450 cash. Leave a wide margin: traffic decides the time, and you still need to be at Clark two hours before a domestic flight.

By air to Puerto Princesa, then van: the route most visitors take
Puerto Princesa’s airport still has jet flights straight from Manila, several a day and usually at a lower fare than flying to El Nido, which is why most visitors land there first. From Puerto Princesa, a shared van or public bus covers the roughly 230km north to El Nido town in about 5 to 6 hours on a mostly paved but winding provincial road. The names to look for are Lexxus Shuttle, Fortwally Travel and Tours, and Eulen Joy Express: shared vans run several times a day, picking up from Salvacion Junction in Puerto Princesa and dropping at the El Nido Transport Terminal.

Before you book
Decide first whether the extra cost of the Clark to El Nido flight, plus the bus to Clark, is worth skipping the 5 to 6 hour van ride, that trade-off is personal and depends on your budget and schedule. Once you know how you’re arriving, see where to stay in El Nido for how town compares to Corong-Corong and Lio, the best hostels in El Nido for a dorm bed, and Tour A, B, C and D compared for what fills the days once you’re there. Questions people ask
What is the fastest way to get to El Nido from Manila?
A Cebgo flight from Clark to Lio Airport (El Nido Airport), about 1 hour 35 minutes. There are no direct Manila flights since 29 March 2026, so add a 2.5 to 3 hour bus from NAIA to Clark.
Can I fly into Puerto Princesa instead and drive to El Nido?
Yes, and most visitors do. Puerto Princesa has far more flights from Manila (several a day, usually cheaper), then it's a 5 to 6 hour van or bus ride north to El Nido town along a mostly paved but winding road.
How much does a flight from Manila to El Nido cost?
Flights into El Nido are the priciest route into Palawan and sell out early in peak season (roughly December to April), and fares swing widely by booking window and carrier. Flying to Puerto Princesa and taking the van is usually the cheaper combined option.
How far is El Nido airport from El Nido town?
Lio Airport sits in the Lio tourism estate, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by van or tricycle from El Nido town itself.
How long is the van ride from Puerto Princesa to El Nido?
Around 5 to 6 hours by shared van or public bus, covering roughly 230km of mostly paved, winding provincial road. Shared vans (sometimes called shuttle vans) run several times a day and are the most common way travellers cover this leg.
Should I book the Puerto Princesa to El Nido van in advance?
A day or two ahead is safer in peak season, shared van operators sell out specific departure times. Outside peak months, same-day or next-day booking at a Puerto Princesa van terminal or through your accommodation is usually fine.
Are there still direct flights from Manila to El Nido?
No. Since 29 March 2026 the turboprop flights leave from Clark instead of Manila, and Cebgo has flown them since taking over AirSWIFT on 1 July 2026.
Which companies run the Puerto Princesa to El Nido van, and where do they leave from?
Lexxus Shuttle, Fortwally Travel and Tours, and Eulen Joy Express are the names you'll see most. Vans leave from Salvacion Junction in Puerto Princesa and arrive at the El Nido Transport Terminal, both within a short tricycle ride of the airports and town centres.
