Sourced against Travel in Siargao’s Cloud 9 surfing guide and Mariden Resort’s Siargao budget guide, last checked 12 October 2026, alongside the accommodation and island-hopping figures already sourced on their own pages. Rates move with season and demand.

Put together, a bed-plus-food-plus-one-surf-lesson day lands around ₱1,650–2,500 per person, roughly $29–44 at current exchange rates. Trade the lesson for a shared island-hopping tour and the same day moves to roughly ₱1,900–3,000, since the boat trip’s lunch is already bundled into that price.

Spreading it across a trip

A 5-day stay, as laid out in a 5-day Siargao itinerary, mixes surf days with the three-island hop, Sugba Lagoon and Magpupungko, so not every day carries both a lesson and a boat fee. Things to do in Siargao after dark covers the evening side of the budget, separately from the daytime figures above, and things to do in Siargao beyond the boat tours covers three more land-based stops (Cloud 9 Boardwalk, Tayangban Cave Pool, the Del Carmen Mangrove Boardwalk) that add only a small entrance fee each rather than a full tour price.

Cash, not cards

Nearly every figure above is paid in cash: tour boatmen, surf instructors, board rental stands and the entrance booths at Sugba Lagoon and Magpupungko do not run card machines. General Luna has a small number of ATMs, and they are known to run out during busy weeks, including surf competition periods at Cloud 9. Bringing more cash than the day’s plan strictly needs, and topping up when an ATM is working rather than waiting until it is not, avoids the trip being decided by which machine still has pesos in it.

Before you book

None of the figures above include getting to Siargao, see how to get to Siargao for the flight and ferry options. A session with me is the fastest way to ask how a Siargao budget fits into a wider trip, and the Siargao trip I am building is still taking names on the waitlist.

Questions people ask

How much does a day in Siargao cost?

A budget day of a hostel bed in General Luna, local food and a surf lesson comes to roughly ₱1,650–2,500 (about $29–44). Swap the surf lesson for a shared island-hopping tour and that day is closer to ₱1,900–3,000, since the boat trip usually includes lunch.

How much does a surf lesson cost in Siargao?

Roughly ₱500-800 per hour for a beginner lesson including board rental and an instructor, at a sand-bottom break like Jacking Horse rather than Cloud 9 itself, which is not a beginner wave. Renting a board without a lesson runs about ₱200 an hour or ₱500 for a full day.

How much does island hopping add to a day's cost?

A shared three-island tour (Naked, Daku, Guyam) runs roughly ₱1,000-1,500 per person including lunch, see Siargao island hopping for the full breakdown and Sugba Lagoon and Magpupungko on top of that.

How much does a budget bed cost in General Luna?

From roughly $15 a night at the cheaper end, see where to stay in Siargao for the comparison between General Luna, Pacifico and Cloud 9 itself.

How many days should I budget for Siargao?

Five days is the split I've laid out in a 5-day Siargao itinerary: enough for the three-island hop, Sugba Lagoon, Magpupungko and surf time without rushing between them.
